A: Yes. We offer consultations to help you understand your legal position and next steps. Some consultations are complimentary depending on the matter—please call our office to confirm.
Q: How much do your services cost?
A: We offer hourly, flat fee, and contingency-based billing depending on the type of case. All fee agreements are provided in writing before any work begins, and we’re always transparent about costs.
Q: How do I hire your firm?
A: Start by contacting us through our online form, email, or by calling the office. After a consultation, we’ll send a written engagement agreement if we believe we can assist you.
Q: How will I receive updates on my case?
A: We pride ourselves on clear, regular communication. Clients receive updates via email, phone, and/or access to a secure online portal, depending on their preference.
Q: What is civil litigation?
A: Civil litigation refers to legal disputes between individuals or businesses, typically involving money, contracts, property, or injuries—not criminal charges.
Q: How long will my lawsuit take?
A: Every case is different, but most civil cases in Texas take several months to over a year depending on the court’s docket, discovery, and whether the case goes to trial.
Q: Do I have to go to court?
A: Not always. Many civil disputes are resolved through settlement negotiations or mediation. If your case does go to trial, we’ll fully prepare you beforehand.
Q: How long do I have to file a civil lawsuit in Texas?
A: It depends on the type of case—commonly 2 years for personal injury, 4 years for contract disputes.
Q: Can I represent myself in small claims court?
A: Yes, individuals (not businesses) can represent themselves in Justice Court.
Q: How do I know if I have a case?
A: Schedule a consultation with our office to review your facts, deadlines, and potential claims.
Q: What is probate?
A: Probate is the legal process of administering a deceased person’s estate, including distributing assets and paying debts. It’s often required whether or not there is a will.
Q: Can I avoid probate?
A: In some cases, yes. Texas allows for alternatives such as small estate affidavits and transfer-on-death deeds. We can help you determine the best route.
Q: How long does probate take in Texas?
A: A simple, uncontested probate can take 2–6 months. More complex cases—especially those involving disputes or heirship—may take longer.
Q: Do I need a lawyer to probate a will in Texas?
A: Yes, in most cases, probate courts require a licensed attorney to represent the estate.
Q: I’ve been arrested. What should I do first?
A: Exercise your right to remain silent and ask for a lawyer. Contact us immediately. Early representation is critical to protecting your rights.
Q: What types of criminal cases do you handle?
A: We defend misdemeanors and felonies including DWI, assault, theft, drug offenses, and probation violations.
Q: Can you help expunge or seal my criminal record?
A: Yes, we help eligible clients file for expunctions or nondisclosure orders, which can clear or seal criminal history in Texas.
Q: I’m starting a business. Can you help?
A: Absolutely. We assist with LLC formation, operating agreements, contracts, and compliance matters to protect your business from the start.
Q: What if someone breaches a contract with me?
A: We’ll evaluate your case and help you pursue enforcement through demand letters, settlement, or litigation if necessary.

A: Yes. We draft, review, and revise contracts for individuals and businesses to ensure enforceability and legal clarity.
Q: Can you help me get a green card?
A: Yes. We assist with family-based, employment-based, and humanitarian green card applications, whether you're in the U.S. or applying from abroad.

A: We guide clients through the family petition process, including Form I-130, adjustment of status, and consular processing, depending on your loved one’s situation.
Q: Do you handle citizenship and naturalization?
A: Absolutely. We help permanent residents apply for U.S. citizenship, prepare for the interview, and navigate any issues related to good moral character or eligibility.
Q: What if I’m facing deportation?
A: We represent clients in removal proceedings and will fight to protect your rights. We’ll explore all available relief, including asylum, cancellation of removal, and waivers.
Q: Can I work while waiting for my immigration application to be approved?
A: You may be eligible for a work permit (EAD). We’ll help determine your eligibility and file the necessary paperwork.
Q: Do you help with visas too?
A: Yes. We handle a variety of visa applications, including fiancé(e) visas (K-1), student visas (F-1), visitor visas (B-1/B-2), and employment-based visas.
Q: What types of personal injury cases do you handle?
A: We represent clients injured in car accidents, truck and motorcycle crashes, slip-and-falls, dog bites, workplace injuries, and other incidents caused by someone else’s negligence.
Q: How long do I have to file a personal injury claim in Texas?
A: In most cases, you have two years from the date of the injury. Some exceptions apply, so it’s best to speak with an attorney as soon as possible.
Q: What damages can I recover?
A: You may be eligible to recover medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, mental anguish, property damage, and—in rare cases—punitive damages.
Q: What if I was partially at fault for the accident?
A: Texas uses a modified comparative negligence rule. You can recover damages as long as you were less than 51% at fault. Your compensation is reduced by your percentage of fault.
Q: Do I have to go to court for a personal injury case?
A: Not always. Many cases settle out of court. If the insurance company refuses to offer a fair settlement, we’re prepared to go to trial to fight for what you deserve.
Q: How much is my case worth?
A: The value depends on your injuries, medical costs, lost income, and the long-term impact on your life. We’ll evaluate your case and pursue the maximum compensation available.
Q: How much does it cost to hire a personal injury lawyer?
A: We work on a contingency fee basis. You pay nothing upfront, and we only get paid if we win or settle your case.
Q: What should I do after an accident?
A: Get medical attention, document the scene, avoid discussing fault, and contact a lawyer right away. We’ll protect your rights from the start.
Q: What if the other driver has no insurance?
A: If you have uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM/UIM) coverage, we can help you file a claim through your own policy.
Q: Can I still file a claim if I had a pre-existing condition?
A: Yes. If the accident worsened an existing condition, you may still recover damages. We'll help show how the accident aggravated your injuries.
Q: Do you help injured passengers too?
A: Absolutely. Passengers can file claims against any at-fault party, including the driver of the vehicle they were in.
Q: Can I sue if I was injured at work?
A: It depends. If a third party (not your employer) caused your injury, you may have a personal injury claim in addition to workers’ compensation rights.
Q: Should I talk to the insurance adjuster?
A: Not without legal advice. Adjusters aim to minimize payouts. Let us handle all communication and negotiation on your behalf.
Q: How can ME Law, PLLC help with my personal injury case?
A: We handle everything—investigation, medical coordination, insurance negotiations, and, if needed, litigation. We fight for the full compensation you’re entitled to.
